My name is Virginia Rettig and I am a biologist, naturalist and a retired refuge manager with over 30 years of experience. I have a passion for designing and installing gardens using native plants that benefit butterflies, hummingbirds and migratory birds. I created Cape NativeScapes to give homeowners an opportunity to make their own contribution to our beautiful Cape May County ecosystem. I'd love to work with you whether on a small yard or a larger project to keep Cape May beautiful.
What to Expect
Each dream starts with an in-person consultation. We will look at your site together and establish your goals. At the conclusion of our visit, you will have information about your site's soils, sun patterns, invasive species issues, and a preliminary site plan for proposed work. The fee will be credited back to you if you decide to move forward with garden design and installation. All garden installations use only native plants expected in our area. Final designs will be approved by you. Garden beds will be improved, as needed, with soil delivered and placed by a qualified local landscaper. I will oversee all project components. Once the project is complete, you will receive a fully illustrated Plant Guide and a Monthly Native Garden Maintenance Plan to help you tend to your new oasis.
